Got two reader mails this week from people who got this error when trying to install
Zend Studio (they wanted to use the voucher in the
Kompendium and to try before they buy):
After some mails back and forth, I believe now that this is a bug in ZeroG's InstallAnywhere. This error message appears when the Windows user name contains "strange" characters like ! or #. So a simple workaround is as follows:
- Create a new user ("temp").
- Login as this user and install the software; be sure to choose "For all users".
- Relogin as the user with the strange characters and user the software.
Then, the "temp" user can be deleted; however in order to uninstall the software, you will have to recreate the user again.
